SEED EXPEDITES PROMISES
Memorise: Then Isaac sowed in the land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. Genesis 26:12
Read: Genesis 26:12-14
If there is one lesson we ought to learn from Isaac’s experience with sowing, it is that even when God’s promise has gone ahead of you, sowing is still necessary to expedite action on the promise. In Genesis 26:1-6, God gave Isaac fantastic promises and asked him to stay in Gerar and not go down to Egypt. He promised to bless him in Gerar. Yet, when the famine was biting hard, Isaac sowed in the land.
Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. Genesis 26:12
It was after he sowed that God blessed him. The reason some people do not sow today is because God gave them solid promises. Some may tell you,
”Because I have great and powerful promises concerning this business, whether I do something or not, God will bring His Word to pass in my life.” It does not always work like that! There are some people God gave even bigger promises but they never realised them. At the end, they saw God as a covenant breaker. They were waiting for God to do something but God had already done something by giving them His promises. God was waiting for them to take a step before the blessings will follow but they never did.
Do you know that if Isaac had not sowed the seed, he would either have waited a longer time to see the fulfilment of the promises or would never have realised them at all? The one who really wants to be blessed will give God no excuse for not blessing him or her. That is, he or she will do everything possible including sowing to provoke the miracle. From Isaac’s experience, it is glaring that your seed can hasten the fulfilment of God’s promises in your life. The blessing that should come in one, two or more year’s time can be delivered to you now if you sow the right seed. How soon do you want your blessing? In addition, sowing a seed is a sure way of breaking the effects of a famine. Are you going through a famine? What steps have you taken to arrest the situation?
Key point:
Promise is not enough. A provoking action must follow the promise to convert it into reality.

WINDS AGAINST SOWING
Memorise: He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. Ecclesiastes 11:4
Read: Ecclesiastes 11:1-6
There is tremendous power in a seed. Each time you sow, you have a future to look forward to. At least you will have expectation of yields. If you fail to sow, you have nothing to look forward to.
In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good. Ecclesiastes 11:6
It takes wisdom to continue to sow. Some people sow once into a project or need of the church and then go to sleep. This is purely an act motivated by insufficient knowledge. Find out if there is any farmer who sows once and goes to sleep and never sows again, but expects continuous harvest. If you sow once, you will take a once-and-for-all harvest. If you continue to sow, your harvests will be multiplied. If you want a great future ahead of you and your family then you must never stop sowing.
As good as sowing may be, there are contrary circumstances that come to discourage the sower from sowing. One of such factors is fear of the weather. The one who focuses on the wind may think of the rain and therefore fail to sow. Today, many people are observing the economic climate before deciding whether to sow or not. The truth is that irrespective of the weather, your seed will give you a good harvest if it is a good seed. Hence, you should sow during economic boom and during economic recession. For instance, Isaac sowed during economic recession and got the type of harvest that he never got before, which turned him into the envy of the Philistines (Genesis 26:12-16). Some people also do not sow because they think they are too much in need to sacrifice their seed. The question is: If you make that sacrifice, will it kill you? If you eat the seed, can it sustain you for a long time? If it cannot, then sow it in faith and trust God for your harvest. Some are afraid of losing their seed. This fear is justified if only you are sowing on the wrong soil or if the seed itself is bad. Ask the Lord to guide you on the good grounds to sow into.
KEY POINT:
A good seed, sown in good soil at a time of need will yield a bountiful harvest.

Bible in one year: Psalms 106-108
POWER OF A SEED
Memorise: Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field. Isaiah 32:16
Read: Isaiah 55:10-13
According to Isaiah 55:10, both seed and bread come from God. It takes sowing a seed to be able to get bread. Many people cannot access bread
and are starving because they either failed to sow their seed or ate them. Do you remember to sow your seeds? Another thing we learn here is about the power of a seed. There is tremendous power buried inside that tiny little seed you often look down on. When you plant a grain of corn or two, within a few months, the harvest can provide enough corn in the curbs to fill your stomach. This simply confirms scriptures that a seed will give you bread if it is sown.
Why do you have to sow your seed? It is to enable you realise its full potential. For every seed, the immediate potential is a tree and the remote potential is a forest.
Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest. Isaiah 32:15
This implies that, what you need to change your entire destiny is how you handle your first seed and the subsequent seeds it gives you. In 2 Kings 4:1-7, a poor widow was disturbed by her creditors. ”What do you have?” Elisha asked her. “Nothing, but a pot of oil”, she replied. “That is a seed. Pour it out!” He said. She could have objected that she could not part with the only thing she had left. If she had, her seed would have been there but she would have lost her two sons to the creditors and she would have died in poverty. She did not know that in her seed, the pot of oil, lay the money to make her debt free. She did not know that in her seed was her dream of becoming a multi-millionaire, and a business tycoon. In her seed lay her future. Thank God she poured it out. Part with your seed today, because as long as you keep it in your bank account, it will not release its full potential to you. Your future lies inside your seed. This is why only the wise fellow will continue to sow at every point in time without complaining, because he or she knows what the seed can do for him or her.
KEY POINT:
Your seed is a means to convey you into your dream of a glorious future.
